Until I let Go

let go

While listening to Abandon’s song entitled ‘Let Go’, I was reminded of what I was in the past. This led me, as usual, to review my journal entries. As I read  my journals, I can’t help but be amazed with what God has done to change my heart and break mindsets that are not good for me~ into what He probably thinks is best for me. I came to realize that what I thought was best for me was nothing compared to the plan that God has in store for me.

I am often easily consumed by the things that I want for my self. I thought it was just me but after getting to know more people in my smallgroup and in the community that I’m in, I realized that most of us are easily devoured by the desires that we have in our lives. It could be a desire for material things, a desire for a certain status in life, or maybe a desire to be loved by people around you. Whether you are a Christ believer or not, we are not exempted from these desires. We usually plan our lives based on the desires that we have. Have you noticed how you work hard or adjust your lifestyle just for you to get what you want? Doing this can be really tiring. Trust me, I’ve been there and I’ve done that.

I have been a believer of Christ for a long time but l just realized that it was just a shallow belief. I didn’t really believe with all my heart. I agree with the things I learn in church but I couldn’t seem to live them out when I was presented it in real life. I came to a point where I was burnt out, tired and lost. That’s when God impressed to me that I have been focusing on my self and I have not been letting him work fully in my life. It was only until I let go and gave him the pen to write my story that I felt free and felt peace in my heart. I was able to see that God’s plan is grander than my plan for my life.

So these are the things that I want to share to you..

If you’re feeling hurt, let it go…

If you’re feeling that you are burdened with a lot of worries, let it go…

If you don’t, you will only hurt your self more; you will feel more burnt out and burdened; you will only make it harder for yourself. God’s plans and desires for you are way better than what you have in mind. God’s love for you is more than what you can imagine. He gave His only Son for You and that, surely, is enough proof that we can be secure and safe in Him. The best thing we can do for ourselves is to let go, be faithful, let God and just obey.

LET GO by ABANDON

You could count the times that everybody’s hurt you
And build a wall so nobody can get through
But nothing’s gonna change if you keep doing the same things
You could shoulder all the weight and try to do it on your own

Or you could let go of all these things you hold
You could let go and watch your life unfold
You’re part of a grand design
Bigger than what you had in mind
But you’ll never know, you’ll never know
Until you let it go

So take a step back widen out the picture
And see the world through the eyes of the savior
Cause when we focus on ourselves there is nothing we can give
But when we lose it all we start to live
You got a front row seat but your never gonna see the show

Until you let go of all these things you hold
You gotta let go and watch your life unfold
You’re part of a grand design bigger than what you had in mind
But you’ll never know, you’ll never know
Until you let it go

Gotta let it go
You gotta let it go, oh let it go
Let go, let go, let it go
Let go, let go, let it go
Let go, let go, let it go
Let go, let go, you gotta let go

…of all these things you hold
You gotta let go and watch your life unfold

You gotta let go of all these things you hold
Let go and watch it watch it unfold
You’re part of a grand design
Bigger than what you had in mind
But you’ll never know, you’ll never know
Until you let it go
